The Kalthir cultivate living scent-glands known as Veyshara Bloom-Spines beneath the skin of the throat, collarbone, ribs, and spine—soft membrane clusters that bloom with microscopic pollen when stimulated by emotion, breath, attraction, fear, or deception. Though outsiders mistake them for ornamentation or freckles, the Kalthir use them as a language more precise than speech. Each bloom carries layered chemical signatures interpreted through the widened scent-paths of other Kalthir, allowing them to sense tension, affection, lies, illness, fertility, grief, and even subtle shifts in intent. The glowing floral nodes seen along the skin are often accentuated with oils or decorative pollen to deliberately shape the emotional atmosphere around them.

Selta-Mar Vials Selta-Mar Vials are delicate glass scent-charms worn by Kalthir diplomats, nobles, and wanderers, each containing preserved flowers, spores, oils, memory-pollen, or emotional residues gathered from sacred gardens and meaningful encounters. These hanging vials slowly release controlled scent harmonics through warmth and motion, allowing a Kalthir to subtly alter how they are emotionally perceived in social spaces. Different blends may calm aggression, encourage trust, sharpen attraction, invoke nostalgia, or create an unsettling sense of unease. Among the Kalthir, exchanging a Saelith Vial is considered more intimate than exchanging written words.

Vaesh-Masks Vaesh-Masks are ceremonial living veils woven from floral fibers, moss-silk, spores, and dormant bloom colonies that filter, suppress, or reshape scent output during rituals, diplomacy, or emotional concealment. Because the Kalthir naturally radiate involuntary emotional pheromones through their Veyshara membranes, the Vaesh-Mask serves as both armor and deception—allowing the wearer to hide fear, mask desire, or become unreadable to other scent-readers. High-ranking scent-weavers often cultivate personalized masks over decades, embedding them with sacred blooms, moth-dust, and memory spores that react uniquely to their breath and presence.

Vaelith Silkskins

The Vaelith Silkskins are rare Kalthir scent-weavers who use attraction and longing as forms of camouflage. Rather than physically shapeshifting, they manipulate perception through pheromone blooms, memory-scents, floral veils, and breath rituals, causing each observer to see a version of them shaped by personal desire—a lost lover, trusted guide, divine figure, or comforting memory. Their moth-silk garments and Vaesh-Masks diffuse engineered aromas that influence emotion before reason can resist, allowing them to calm aggression, manipulate negotiations, conceal their people, or lure threats away without violence. Among the Kalthir, this is not viewed as deception, but as harmony through instinct and breath. Legends of the Vaelith are wildly contradictory because no two people ever truly see the same figure standing before them.
