Council of Erevath Copy link

The Council of Erevath stands as the guiding body of Rhuna, a coalition of diverse Origins entrusted with upholding balance, interpreting divine will, and steering the world away from collapse. At the heart of the Council are the Rhunai—first among equals—whose sacred connection to Rhunatha, the planetary consciousness embodied in the great root-tree, positions them as the Messengers of Balance. Through meditative trance, Thread-speech, and ritual communion with Rhunatha’s buried tendrils, the Rhunai read the subtle shifts in planetary equilibrium. Elura Thaen, the Celestial Grove’s Elder, and Sarethwyn, the Rootspeaker, lead the Council’s sessions, opening each meeting with the Verdant Reading—a ritual interpretation of Rhunatha’s will, believed to precede all mortal governance.

Next in the chain of divine authority sits the Zaltar, represented by Alderenyul, the High Flamekeeper of the Celestial Order. As the Justiciar of Order, the Zaltar enforces the sacred doctrines handed down from Zal’s immortal flame. When the Council threatens to fragment over ideology or self-interest, Alderenyul invokes the Edict of Structure, a rare privilege that halts proceedings and restores clarity through invocation of primal law. Unlike the Rhunai, who whisper with the planet’s pulse, the Zaltar speaks with fire—unyielding, precise, and absolute—reminding all present that Order must be protected, even from the Council itself.

Standing as both imitator and arbitrator, the Karthine—embodied by Kekarlyne, the Moonsworn Arbiter—serve as the Mimics of the Council’s Will. Gifted with the sacred art of Celestial Mimicry, the Karthine absorb and reflect the emotional, political, and metaphysical intentions of the assembly. Kekarlyne often recites the Council’s truths before they’re spoken, balancing potential futures and reshaping the spoken into the possible. It is said that through their mimicry, the Council’s declarations gain coherence—and that without the Karthine to mirror its soul, the Council would splinter in echoing chaos.

Beneath these core voices, the remaining Council seats descend in structured tiers reflecting influence, tradition, and historical contribution to the survival of Rhuna. The Red and Blue Gahlians form a martial and mystical bloc, the former pushing for strength through dominion, the latter for survival through clarity. The Pahric, Kalthir, and Ezhani provide cultural and environmental insights, while the Corvian houses control economic policy in a tightly woven guild alliance. The Imari, Ereth, and Duranine contribute visions of art, nature, and infrastructure, while the Tyrru, Daathru, and Meridian represent divine law and mortal legacy. Further still are the Stranded, Irenuk, and Zhe, whose ties to the untamed and feral edge of Rhuna offer a raw counterbalance. Finally, at the Council’s outermost edge stand the Uthuru, represented by Vultress Karesh and Malgarin Skathehowl, whose voices are chaos-shaped, prophetic, and often unwelcome—but always necessary, for even the Council must heed the Wither’s warning.

Ceremonial Founding Speech of the Council of Erevath Copy link

[Spoken in unison by the original delegates of the Council, each voice harmonizing into the next as Threads and divine echoes converge above the Seat of Stones in Zaltanye]

“We gather not as conquerors, but as kin. Not as rulers, but as readers of the world’s unraveling. From the flame-scarred peaks of Duranel to the dreaming oases of Imarand, from the wild groves of Vahl to the broken standards of Meridia, we answer the call—not of power, but of preservation.”

“We are Rhunai, who speak the roots. We are Zaltar, who recall the law. We are Karthine, who remember the reflection. We are Gahlian and Pahric, Corvian and Kalthir, Duranine and Ezhani, Tyrru, Daathru, Imari, Irenuk, Zhe, Stranded, and Uthuru. Each voice is a Thread. Each Thread is a vow.”

“By this accord, let the Council of Erevath be bound. Not in blood, but in vision. Not in might, but in memory. Let our judgments echo the will of the land, our hands shape only what the Threads permit, and our failures be shared—so that our children might still know sunrise beneath an unbroken sky.”

“And in this circle, though lost to time, we honor the one who bore the flame between us: the Regent Who Was Promised. Though their form lies beyond recall, though their light has dimmed beyond horizon, their sacrifice kindled this table. Their absence weighs like gravity upon us. May their legacy endure not in statues, but in the stillness before we speak. We begin in their name. And we vow, should balance ever falter again, the Threads will carry us to rise as they did. And rise we shall.”
