Vanthis – The Capital of Fortune Copy link

"Every wager is a promise. Every promise is a risk. Every risk is an act of defiance."

Vanthis rose from ruin through wagers that nobody could guarantee. After the collapse of the Nuhlrin thrones, the western survivors gathered along the glittering coastlines of the Luckshores, where divine motes of Glimmer washed up with each tide. These motes—fragments of chaos and blessing both—became the soul of the city.

Vanthis was not built by decree, but by wager. Caravans gambled for plots of land. Architects gambled for whose tower would rise next. Even its tiers were designed by contest, with each new district claimed by those willing to risk everything in sacred chance-games called Castings. The city’s very foundation rests upon uncertainty, yet it has endured for centuries as a living shrine to fortune.

Notable Features Copy link

• The Covenant Spires – Towering civic archives hung with oath-cords and marked seals. Contracts are witnessed in their open courts, and every law is recorded where the people bound by it can see its terms.

• The Lottery of the Divine – Held every new moon, this ritual reshuffles lives. Nobles become beggars, beggars become generals, merchants gain visions, or soldiers sprout divine marks. The risk is sacred, and none may refuse the draw.

• The Glimmer Markets – Stalls overflow with motes of luck bound into charms, weapons, or wagers. Here, contracts are witnessed with marked seals and a throw of dice that shimmer with living possibility.

• The Cascade Courts – A system of tiered platforms where disputes are settled by gamble overseen by Covenant-Keepers. The agreed terms and outcome are recorded on witnessed seals and oath-cords, making the judgment public and binding.

Cultural Atmosphere Copy link

To walk Vanthis is to pass beneath ribbons of wager-cloth and oath-cords hung from balconies and civic arches. Some mark weddings, others judgments, others a merchant’s newly witnessed bargain. Outsiders often call it “the city where every breath is a bet.” To the Meridians of the West, these changing displays make risk and responsibility visible: survival depends upon knowing what may change and what people have promised to carry through it.

Anmor – The War-Capital Copy link

"Luck is a flame. But flame must be tempered by iron." – Verigan, the Gambler-King

Where Vanthis sings of fortune, Anmor stands like a clenched fist against fate. Rising inland along the Fractured Crown Ridge, this fortress-city was founded on the ruins of an ancient Nuhlrin bastion. Its walls are forged of star-glass and blackstone, reinforced with Voidsteel mined from the Nuhlveldt. Anmor is less city than war-machine—a training ground, armory, and crucible where fortune is bent into discipline.

Anmor became most infamous under Verigan, the Gambler-King, a soldier who won the Lottery of the Divine centuries ago and emerged not with riches, but with immortality. Taking command of Anmor’s armies, Verigan transformed the city into the empire’s martial heart. His doctrine is simple: mortals must master fate, not be mastered by it.

Notable Features Copy link

• The Sigil-Standards of Anmor – Great war-standards are raised before battle, their etched plates awakening divine-forged weapons and channeling Glimmer through the ranks. Visible above the formations, they gather the soldiers around a shared commitment to hold.

• The Sanguine Fortress – Verigan’s citadel, carved into the basalt cliffs, is both command hall and vault for cursed relics. Here, he hosts the Sanguine Suns—twelve mercenary heroes who gambled their lives with Glimmer and survived, each twisted into something more than mortal.

• The Parade of Iron – Every year, Anmor marches its legions through the War-Tier streets. Nullifier-armored battalions, resonance-drummers, and Glimmer-marked warriors parade before Verigan’s seat to remind all of Meridia’s military dominance.

• The Echo Pits – Vast training arenas where soldiers duel with living fate-stones, honing their ability to resist Thread manipulation and Wither corruption. Losers often die—but to fall in the Pits is considered an honorable fate, one’s name etched into the walls forever.

The Sanguine Suns Copy link

The most feared warriors in Meridia, the Sanguine Suns are Verigan’s chosen twelve. Each survived a wager with fate that should have killed them—emerging scarred, empowered, or cursed with fragments of Glimmer’s chaotic blessing.

• One bleeds molten fire but never dies of the wound.

• Another speaks only in omens, each word an echo of futures that never come to pass.

• Another is blind, but their shadow fights with them, wielding a blade of light.

Together, they are whispered as the greatest Vathian slayers alive. Their campaigns across the Nuhlveldt broke Gahlian war-hosts, shattered Thread aberrations, and purged Wither-champions thought immortal. Vathians who hear their name recall not victory, but slaughter.

Vanthis & Anmor – A Tense Harmony Copy link

Though Vanthis and Anmor represent two halves of Meridia, their relationship is fraught. Vanthis thrives on charm and gamble, Anmor on duty and grit. Vanthis displays the risks its people accept; Anmor raises the standards they are expected to defend. The empire requires both: one to engage uncertainty, one to hold through it.

Together, they are the twin hearts of Meridia—Vanthis the wager, Anmor the resolve—bound by covenant, tested by chance, and feared by all who would test them.
