Choose Create from Scratch in My Heroes for a guided, resumable sequence of character choices, with a randomize option for inspiration. Randomize Hero remains available for an immediate starting character.

In Create from Scratch, begin with Origin Kind. Your Kind determines your Origin Seed automatically; the next step explains that inheritance. Then choose your name, culture and background, and the details of the life you want to play. Brief passages from the relevant books appear above the choices as you make them.

The Story So Far gathers these details into sentences. Select the highlighted words to change them; open Write to tell a chapter in your own words. The supporting rules in this book explain what each choice represents. Changing a structured detail and writing a personal passage are different acts: prose does not silently change statistics.

In guided creation, Origin Kind determines the Seed and the eligible inheritance, Weight and Sense choices. Culture and cultural background describe belonging separately from ancestry. Changing a foundational choice can update dependent starting options. Review the sheet’s notice after such a change; authored passages and campaign history are retained.

Choose two inheritance gifts, one from each source, and three distinct starting Pathways. Each Pathway has a Control, Versatility, or Impulse Shade. Establish the Origin’s starting Senses, then choose two eligible Sense Embers. Starting Presence and Sense Training remain at or below Adept.

The ordinary starting Hero Bag has twenty tokens. Optional Injury rules can add a specialized token and require manual review of the bag. An Injury is a choice, not an assumed part of every Hero.

Growing beyond the beginningCopy link

Abilities & Training shows only possessed capabilities. Use + Add Ability for a newly learned Presence, Pathway, or Sense and select the earned Training tier. The list prevents duplicate entries and retains Origin restrictions. Starting choices remain the account of how the Hero began; later learning does not require replacing those three starting Pathways.

Recording advancement does not pay its cost or automatically issue new tokens. Apply the game’s advancement procedure, then update the Hero Bag when the earned change alters its composition. The story’s connected creation choices establish the initial build; use Abilities & Training for earned advancement.
