Choose the Pathway, Presence, or Sense that fits the action, then name what you intend through TARGET, DEFEND, GAIN, or SPEND. Each approach has one distinct word for each action.

Action

Purpose

TARGET

Act upon a target or overcome resistance.

DEFEND

Protect, resist, redirect, or prevent an unwanted effect.

GAIN

Build appropriate preparation, Reserve, or connection without a Performance Check. Gain Fatigue: Untrained 3, Trained 2, Adept 1, Master/Exemplar 0.

SPEND

Use appropriate existing Reserve to bring a prepared effect into play.

The action word describes intent; Training, Shade, Difficulty, and the applicable action rules still determine resolution. These labels do not create new Reserve types, add automatic Boons or Banes, or replace the specialist Threadcraft, Invocation, and Devotion rules.

Presence uses Might, Agility, Tenacity, Resolve, and Intuition. Senses use Touch, Sight, Sound, Taste, and Smell. Name a concrete intention so the WorldKeeper can identify the appropriate approach and any Reserve required.
