THE THREAD RUNE LEXICON Copy link

Threaders use Runes to describe the structure of a Threadcraft.

Each Thread possesses a Root Rune. When multiple Threads are Stitched together, their Root Runes combine into a larger Rune whose syllables preserve the Threads held within it.

One Thread forms one syllable. Two Threads form two. Three form three. Four form four. All Five form five.

A Rune does not create Threadcraft. It establishes a pattern through which multiple Threads can interact without losing their distinction.

ONE-THREAD RUNES Copy link

Root Runes represent the Five Threads in their simplest form.

Their Keywords are the fundamental expressions of Threadcraft.

TWO-THREAD RUNES Copy link

Two Threads form a Stitch Rune.

A Stitch Rune creates expressions that neither contributing Thread could convincingly produce alone.

Stitch Keywords Copy link

A Stitch Keyword is not merely a stronger version of a Root Keyword.

It describes an effect that becomes possible because two different principles are interacting.

For example:

Erupt releases force. Glimpse anticipates what is about to occur.

But Intercept uses both ideas: force is applied at the anticipated point where something will be.

Likewise:

Adapt allows something to change. Resonate brings things into harmony.

But Attune changes one thing specifically until it matches another.

THREE-THREAD RUNES Copy link

Three Threads form a Braided Rune.

Rather than adding another complete list of Keywords, Braided Runes introduce Techniques—ways of manipulating the relationship between Threadcraft effects.

Rune

Threads

Principle

Suggested Technique

DACORJA

Dalo + Cora + Jatu

Force changes according to guidance.

Redirect — alter the course or behavior of an ongoing force as circumstances change.

DACORSE

Dalo + Cora + Sere

Force transforms toward stability.

Stabilize — reshape an unstable force, structure, or effect into a sustainable state.

DACORNA

Dalo + Cora + Nari

Forced change becomes self-propagating.

Chain — allow a transformation to pass from one valid subject to another.

DAJASE

Dalo + Jatu + Sere

Directed force becomes coordinated.

Orchestrate — distribute one directed effort across several coordinated subjects.

DAJANA

Dalo + Jatu + Nari

Directed force propagates toward a purpose.

Seek — allow an effect to continue pursuing its intended subject or outcome.

DASENA

Dalo + Sere + Nari

Resonant force spreads through connection.

Pulse — propagate an effect outward through connected or resonant subjects.

CORJASE

Cora + Jatu + Sere

Guided adaptation creates alignment.

Calibrate — continually adjust something toward a chosen state.

CORJANA

Cora + Jatu + Nari

Guided adaptation produces evolving growth.

Develop — cause repeated adaptation toward a desired function.

CORSENA

Cora + Sere + Nari

Connected growth adapts toward shared balance.

Integrate — allow separate things to function temporarily as parts of one system.

JASENA

Jatu + Sere + Nari

Shared guidance propagates through connection.

Network — distribute awareness or information across several linked subjects.

Braided Technique Copy link

When using three Threads, choose an appropriate Technique to describe how the manifestation behaves.

The Technique modifies the Threadcraft rather than functioning as a separate spell.

A Hero might therefore use:

DACORJA — Redirect

to bend an existing surge of force around an obstacle.

Or:

JASENA — Network

to allow several allies to temporarily share information perceived by one member of the group.

FOUR-THREAD RUNES Copy link

Four Threads form a Woven Rune.

At this level, the Threader gains broad control over the structure of a manifestation rather than simply gaining another collection of effects.

Rune

Missing Thread

Nature of the Weave

Suggested Mechanical Permission

DACORJASE

Nari

Precise, controlled, stable

Contain — prevent a manifestation from spreading beyond its intended subjects or area.

DACORJANA

Sere

Adaptive, directed, proliferating

Propagate — allow a manifestation to continue changing and spreading after its initial use.

DACORSENA

Jatu

Powerful, adaptive, interconnected

Diffuse — distribute an effect across several connected subjects instead of concentrating it on one.

DAJASENA

Cora

Directed, resonant, overwhelming

Unify — cause several manifestations or subjects to act as one coordinated effect.

CORJASENA

Dalo

Adaptive, guided, harmonious, abundant

Gestate — establish a manifestation that develops gradually without requiring continuous force.

The Missing Thread Copy link

Four-Thread Runes have an interesting property:

what they lack becomes almost as important as what they contain.

A Rune without Nari can achieve extraordinary precision but struggles to proliferate.

A Rune without Sere may expand and adapt but becomes difficult to stabilize.

A Rune without Jatu possesses tremendous capability without inherent direction.

A Rune without Cora can be extraordinarily powerful but resistant to changing once established.

A Rune without Dalo can produce complex living or resonant structures but lacks the principle of Dominion needed to force them against strong resistance.

FIVE-THREAD RUNE Copy link

There is only one complete Five-Thread Rune.

Rune

Threads

Principle

Exemplar Technique

DACORJASENA

Dalo + Cora + Jatu + Sere + Nari

All Five Threads held simultaneously without losing distinction.

Hold the Pattern — maintain a complete five-Thread manifestation without immediately producing Wither.

HOLD THE PATTERN Copy link

An Exemplar Threader does not gain a sixth form of Threadcraft.

They gain the ability to accomplish something far more difficult:

keeping all Five Threads separate while allowing all Five to interact.

A five-Thread manifestation may draw upon:

• Dalo to drive it.

• Cora to adapt it.

• Jatu to guide it.

• Sere to stabilize it.

• Nari to expand it.

So long as those principles remain distinct, DACORJASENA holds.

If their boundaries collapse, the Threads begin to Tangle.

TANGLE & WITHER Copy link

Five Threads occupying the same manifestation are inherently unstable.

When a five-Thread Rune is disrupted, overextended, or improperly maintained, the WorldKeeper may call for the Hero to Hold the Pattern.

On success, the five strands remain distinct.

On failure, the Rune Tangles.

A Tangle is not another Threadcraft effect.

It is the collapse of the structure separating the Five Threads.

Where all Five Threads Tangle, Wither forms.

The greater the failed manifestation, the greater the Wither it may leave behind.

Root Keywords tell you what a Thread does.

Stitch Keywords tell you what two Threads can become together.

Braided Techniques tell you how complex Threadcraft behaves.

Woven Techniques tell you how the manifestation is structured.

The Complete Pattern tests whether a Threader can hold the whole of Threadcraft without creating Wither.
