Spend Tokens represent limited opportunities a Hero accumulates during play and may deliberately spend to produce a specific effect. Unlike tokens within the Hero Bag, Spend Tokens are tracked outside the Bag and are never drawn during a Performance.
Spend Tokens include Favor, Redraw, and Project Tokens. Each has its own method of acquisition and use, but all share the same fundamental purpose: they are held until the Hero chooses to spend them.
FAVOR
Spend to Invoke Favor
Favor represents the Hero's accumulated goodwill, fortune, or influence with forces beyond themselves.
When spent during an appropriate Performance, 1 Favor allows the Hero to Invoke Favor. Randomly draw a token from the Favor Bag and resolve the divine force that answers according to the Favor rules.
The Hero chooses when to Invoke Favor, but never chooses which Favor Token is drawn.
Favor is tracked outside the Hero Bag and does not contribute directly to a Performance until spent.
REDRAW
Spend to Redraw
Redraw represents the Hero's ability to challenge an unfavorable Moment and reach for another possibility.
When spent, 1 Redraw allows the Hero to redraw a token according to the Redraw rules. The newly drawn token replaces the previous result as required by the effect.
Redraw is tracked outside the Hero Bag and has no value until the Hero chooses to spend it.
PROJECT
Spend toward Projects
Project Tokens represent time, effort, resources, and progress invested toward goals that cannot be completed within a single action or Moment.
Project Tokens are gained and committed toward Projects, representing the Hero gradually bringing a longer-term goal toward completion.
When a Project requires Project Tokens, the Hero may spend or commit the required amount according to that Project's rules. Once its requirements are fulfilled, the Project is completed and its result takes effect.
Project Tokens are tracked outside the Hero Bag and do not contribute directly to ordinary Performances.
