The Motivation Token represents the personal drive, desire, relationship, belief, responsibility, or experience that currently gives a Hero reason to act. Every Hero possesses one Gray Motivation Token within their Hero Bag, representing the motivation carrying the greatest influence over their actions.
A Motivation may be a purpose, relationship, responsibility, ambition, fear, promise, belief, or desire. It does not describe what the Hero is capable of doing, but why they continue to act when something matters.
The Motivation Token contributes 1 Versatility [V] when drawn during a Performance. Because Motivation is not aligned with Control or Impulse, that Versatility may support either approach.
A Hero's Motivation is not necessarily permanent. As circumstances change, relationships develop, goals are achieved, and new responsibilities emerge, the Motivation represented by the token may change with them.
Motivation represents not what a Hero can do, but why they choose to do it.
MOTIVATION
1 Versatility [V]
Motivation represents what drives the Hero now.
It reflects the immediate purpose, relationship, need, ambition, or circumstance that has become important during the Hero's present story.
When drawn during a Performance, Current Motivation contributes 1 Versatility.
Motivation may change as the Hero's circumstances and priorities change.
