THREADCRAFT Copy link
Before there were kingdoms, gods, or mortal peoples, there were the Threads.
Threads are the fundamental forces woven throughout Rhun and all creation. They shape matter, life, sensation, memory, change, and possibility itself. Most people experience the Threads indirectly through the world around them. Threaders learn to perceive them, understand them, and ultimately shape them.
Threadcraft is the practice of intentionally manipulating these forces through will, training, and resonance. A Threader does not cast spells in the traditional sense. Instead, they weave patterns from the Threads that already exist within the world, guiding them toward a desired outcome.
Each Thread possesses its own nature, themes, and methods of expression. Some influence growth and life. Others alter perception, reshape matter, manipulate time, or command elemental force. The Keywords presented in this chapter represent the most common manifestations of each Thread and provide the foundation from which a Threader creates their effects.
Threadcraft is inherently flexible. A Keyword is not a fixed spell or predetermined power. It is a narrative expression of a Thread's nature. Two Heroes using the same Keyword may produce very different results depending on their intent, the circumstances, and the story being told.
As a Threader's mastery grows, they learn to create increasingly complex manifestations. Through Stitch, multiple Thread Colors may be woven together into a single expression. Through Amplify, additional Thread may be invested to increase the scale, duration, intensity, or reach of a manifestation.
The Thread Keywords that follow provide the building blocks of Threadcraft. Individually they express the nature of a single Thread. Together they allow Threaders to reshape the world in ways limited only by their mastery, imagination, and the Threads available to them.
Every Threadcraft begins with a single Thread.
The greatest works begin when many are woven together.
ESTABLISHING A LINKCopy link
Gain through Threads can establish a Link to the Thread network without a Performance Check, paying the Training-based Gain Fatigue cost. While active, Link enables eligible Sense-based Gain and expires at the next resolved Major Time draw. Creating Link does not exchange Potential. Shared tapping and any exception to Vel’s draw remain in development; Link does not currently grant an automatic corruption bypass.
