Every Hero carries something within them that cannot be learned.
Innate represents a Hero’s fundamental nature—the defining expression of their Origin.
Where Pathways reflect what a Hero has learned, Innate reflects what they inherently are.
Each Origin grants a unique Innate Keyword. When used, Innate becomes the Hero’s sole Keyword for that Performance.
THE INNATE CARD Copy link
Every Hero has an Innate Card tied to their Origin.
The Innate Keyword remains the same, while the card’s orientation shows whether the Hero is expressing it through Control or Impulse.
Innate defines the action. Presence or Pathway defines its expression.
DECLARING INNATE Copy link
When declaring Innate:
• Present the Innate Card.
• Declare what you are attempting through the Innate Keyword.
• Express it through Control or Impulse.
• Check the Training (TAME) Level of the Innate based on its Presence OR Pathway.
• Resolve it as a normal Performance.
Innate is its own action and is not combined with additional Keywords unless a rule specifically allows it.
THE ORIGIN SEED Copy link
Every Hero carries a Pink Origin Seed Token in their Performance Bag.
The Origin Seed activates whenever drawn.
When drawn, the Origin Token immediately adds Versatility equal to the highest eligible total for the Hero’s Origin Seed, counting matching results already drawn and still in the bag. Use only one total, with a minimum bonus of 1V; no Reserve Token is created.
Origin | Origin Seed Effect |
|---|---|
Astralkin | Add the highest single Sanction total as Versatility, minimum 1V. |
Vathian | Add the highest single Thread Color total as Versatility, minimum 1V. |
Nuhlrin | Add the highest single Aspect total as Versatility, minimum 1V. |
Orvah | Add the highest single Sanction, Thread Color, or Aspect total as Versatility, minimum 1V. |
Example: A Vathian has 3 Green results across drawn tokens and the remaining bag, more than any other Thread Color. Drawing the Origin Token adds +3V to this Performance.
